PPV

noun platform-mechanic

PPV (Pay-Per-View) is the individual paid-content sales mechanic inside OnlyFans direct messages. The creator composes a message with locked photo or video content, sets a price, and sends it to one or many fans. The fan sees a blurred thumbnail and a pay button — upon payment, the content unlocks.

Unlike the base subscription (flat and recurring), PPV is variable income that scales with the quality of DM operations and the spending capacity of the fan base.

Why it’s the primary mechanic

Base subscription represents only 20-40% of an intermediate creator’s total income. The remainder comes from PPVs. This means the operational quality of DMs — who responds, when, with what personalization — determines the majority of total income.

A creator with an identical catalog to another but with professionally managed DMs converts PPVs 30-80% better. The difference isn’t in the photo sent — it’s in the conversation preceding, the timing of the drop, and the personalization of the message.

Typical price ranges

  • Individual photo: $4-$10
  • Photo set (5-10 pieces): $12-$30
  • Short video (1-3 minutes): $20-$40
  • Medium video (3-8 minutes): $35-$75
  • Long video (8+ minutes): $60-$120
  • Custom request: $60-$250+ depending on complexity

Intermediate creators frequently leave income on the table through generic PPV pricing. Individual calibration by catalog item and by VIP fan is one of the areas where professional management adds the most measurable value.
